So He Wasn't Just Ignoring Me!

While we were home in the States we decided to take full advantage, and we took Ronan into the ENT to have him check his ears. Over the course of his life, there have been multiple issues with ear infections, impacted earwax, and a couple of other things. Long story short, his speech and behavior were starting to be effected and we wanted to get some questions answered.

It is a good thing we did too….because, come to find out-he is essentially deaf in his left ear!
This diagnosis explains SO many things, and we are thrilled that we were able to figure out what was really going on, so now we can help him to compensate.
After the initial ENT visit, to get a more detailed picture of the hearing loss they sent us to the hospital for a sedated ABR, which is essentially a brainwave hearing test.
He wasn't the hugest fan of the hospital, IV, etc…
but we were able to take him to a specialty Children's Hospital, and they showered him with fun toys and attention. Luckily, he made it through!

Waiting for the IV

Snoring away...

Waking Up...

Still trying to wake up...

All done. Doesn't he look happy about the whole thing?!
Poor little guy! He was such a trooper!
We were able to get things all figured out as well, and he now gets to have speech therapy to help him get up to speed. Luckily, we are in a terrific city that has the services we needed, and he will start a regular schedule in the next couple of weeks. It will be so nice to get everyone back in a routine and on a schedule!
Things are looking bright from here on out!

Oh good luck Kendra. I'm glad you could find out what was going on. I pray everyday Lauren catches up. I never realized how stressful or how heartbreaking and scary this can be. I hope he catches up quickly!

I hope I'm not too late, can I have an invite to your blog? I know I don't comment very often, but I do read it! I love to see how you guys are doing and what's going on. Sometimes I have to get caught up, like right now, but I do like to read it!
