Gingerbread time was finally upon us once again!
Although I'm slightly behind, I'm going to attempt to document to
fun we had that night for you anyway!
We had a couple neighbors over and all had a terrific time!
This year's edition for us was the Jefferson Memorial!!
You'll have to make it to the end of this post if you want to see the final product though!
We decided to do little graham cracker houses for all the kids this year, and they each had their own. They all loved it, and I think it is definitely the way to go for the future.
Us adults did let the kids help somewhat on the "big ones", but for the most part it was a good way to get the kiddos creativity out on their little masterpieces!
Now it's time to get serious!!
Good assembly job guys! (Their very first gingerbread house from scratch!)
It looks beautiful
Beautiful icing job
Noah hard at work on construction
she's coming along...
I think the littles enjoyed eating the candy as much as decorating with it.
What's not to love?
Our friend's have some mad skills.
They both made fantastic creations!
The R Family went the traditional route-
And the M Family joined us in making a fabulous recreation of a landmark they were involved in restoring while in Vietnam! It looked fantastic! (the picture of the real thing is on the table)
Our boys of course loved every second:
Porter made me take a picture of every single angle, plus some!
I am only posting this one, though, of his pride and joy.
Love it buddy!
Ronan's was more on the simplistic side, without as much use of chocolate-
but a fantastic job as well!
I love when I am able to have activities that he really wants to participate in!!
ok, now we're really cooking-
almost there!
And the finished product...
TA DAH!!!
Complete with cherry blossom trees made out of pink Nerds, marshmallows and pretzels!
(and the sour patch tourists for affect)
Thomas Jefferson could have used a little more work, but I am not really a sculptor.
He was a cute and chewy statue instead!
We had a great time this year, and I think it turned out awesome!
Mark 1 down for another successful gingerbread landmark!
Watch out Tokyo, here we come.
What to do next year? hmmm...better get planning.
