Twinkle Lights

LDS Washington DC Temple

If you have ever driven on the 495 in the Washington DC metro area, chances are you have seen the LDS Temple. It is so beautiful all the time, however, it was an extra special treat to be able to take our little family to see the Christmas lights during December. It was absolutely gorgeous!! It was a foggy and drizzly night, but it definitely made it feel cold and "Christmasy"!

They have some wonderful  annual exhibits inside the visitor's center, including a display of Creches from around the world. There were some really beautiful ones-including this one from Madagascar; a family favorite!

We also had to get a picture with the "Around the World" tree. Porter actually recognized quite a few of the flags! Look at our little geography bug.

We heard someone say that they had to cut back on lights on the big trees so that there weren't accidents on the freeway! I can definitely see how that would be a problem!

It was all still absolutely lovely though.
I hope we get to go every year that we are in the area.

My favorites were these purple trees-
gorgeous much?!

and a few snowflakes to make it feel like Christmas

It was a wonderful night and great activity for us to do as a family.
It was so beautiful, and helped to remind us and our boys of the true meaning of Christmas.
We had such a nice time taking the boys to the Temple, seeing the Nativity,
and discussing what a wonderful gift the World received with the birth of Jesus Christ.
What a blessing it has been in our familie's life; and we are so grateful for it.
