There is a fantastic little holiday village on the Black Sea Coast about an hour drive from Istanbul on the Asian side. It is home to Turkey's largest lighthouse (pictured above) and some fun times as well. It is famous for it's cotton which is produced there. It is so soft and SO lightweight, it is like wearing air! There are lots of fun little shops to pick up some great stuff and the views are unbeatable!
Also home to an ancient fortress-
There is a fun park right on the top of this cliff, and why not add some giant cannons to climb on? The park was fun, but seriously-these were way better according to Porter!
They also have some great little restaurants built into the cliffs. That's one thing I LOVE about Turkey. With so much water all around, I love getting amazing views at reasonably priced restaurants! In America you have to pay extra for views like these! This was the view from our table-
The water below us was a gorgeous Turquoise-and had tons of great caves! Not that we will be exploring any of them anytime soon. More like the caves from Harry Potter 6, I think. Well, as far as ease of getting to anyway!
It's a terrific little getaway, and well worth a quick trip if you are in the area.
Pick yourself up some fun new Sile Bezi-Cotton shirts
(I got two, and I think one more trip is in order before we leave).
Take in the amazing views of the Black Sea Coast, hit the lighthouse for a bit and you can stroll along the beach.
But, I'll leave you with perhaps my favorite thing about Sile.
I'll direct your attention to the item costing 18 Turkish Lira.
Yes folks. At this fine dining establishment (really it was pretty tasty),
you can order yourself a "Spider Crap Kebap"!
My favorite English translation to date.
